On this day

We attempted a day at the cabin but as soon as my toes started turning blue we decided to head home after a bit of DIY and a trip for ice cream (just what you need when you are freezing, no?)
We picked up fresh prawns on the way home and stuffed ourselves silly. We may go and see a film later or we may slob out on the sofa. We'll see. (I'm hoping for sofa!)

Cabin weekend (2)

Towards the end of the winter I tend to hate Norway. I hate my clothes,my coat,my shoes and cannot wait to get them all in to storage.
The change of season has (like last year) made me feel like a whole new person. I'm loving Norway. Today I took my sandals and summer clothes out of storage (it was 19c) and put away our winter gear. Feels good to put away the winter.
I'm also putting together things to take to our cabin to make it feel more like home. We are slowly clearing out all of Henrik's folks stuff and replacing it with our own and it certainly feels nice to have money this year compared to last years thrifty summer!

Cabin weekend

We opened our cabin up for spring at the weekend and it was so lovely to be back there. We scrubbed the place, painted, put up shelves, blinds and generally gave the place some much needed TLC after the long winter.
It was the most amazing summery weekend, perfect blue skies, warm temps with only a few stubborn piles of snow/ice hanging around. It felt as though all was needed was a dip in the fjord.
I keep being told by norwegians that because spring is so early it means that winter will come early which is something I do not want to hear!
Hope you all had sunny weekends!

Moving forward

I now have a personal number (a real one, not a temp one) therefore I exist.
I now have a doctor (this is a nice feeling)
I no longer feel rage when norwegians do not make eye contact/give a little wave when I stop at a zebra crossing (instead I think to myself, "Sånn er det")
I no longer expect to have a door held open for me (although Henrik always does hold it for me)
I no longer convert everything I buy from kroners to pounds.
I now only speak to dogs and children in norwegian (never english, it just feels so wrong!)

It's coming

Spring coats are out of storage, grass is visible again, only small piles of snow remain.
Next weekend we will open up our cottage, give it a spring clean and count down the weeks til it's warm enough to sleep there and swim in the fjord again.
Living in England I never appreciated spring like I do now. Here it's a huge deal!

Friday night

I have been looking forward to Friday night since Monday morning and now it's here.
I'm home alone as Henrik it out for fredag's Pils so I'm enjoying a bit of me time, junk tv and a mojito.
Spring is in the air and the snow has almost melted. I'm no longer wearing spikes on my shoes, the mornings and evenings are much lighter and there is light at the end of the (long norwegian winter) tunnel.

We had three fantastic days in Berlin consuming way too much delicious food, good coffee and cheap alchohol. We also walked so much that we had to stretch once back at our hotel each evening to avoid our legs seizing up!
We need another trip as 3 days for Berlin is just not enough!
